Mun needs a refresher~

[It's cold out, but the blaze roaring in the firepit of this cozy tavern more than compensates. This particular tavern is furnished with plump couches and coffee tables on the second floor balcony; a bar, a few dining tables, and an open space for dancing in front of a small stage (generically set for any band they might convince to play) on the ground floor. Robin's curled up in the corner of one of the couches, watching the people down below. She's midway through her first tankard- still- and while she may or may not have arrived with company, she is currently alone. Feel free to chat her up, get in a barfight downstairs, get smashed on cheap booze and hot wings, whatever! Open world, open log, go crazy!]

[ Ray's eyes are scanning the crowd, landing on one of the older members of the Straw-Hat's. He can't stop the smirk -- predatory and almost too pleased with himself. He orders a second drink -- a warm drink, to chase the chill away from the beautiful woman. After getting and paying for it, he saunters towards her, coming up behind her to set the mug in front of her and then lean down and over her shoulder. ] Good evening, Nico Robin. [ he hums this so softly, mouth near her ear and a playful smile on his face, he moved quickly, darting to the side and tilting his head. ] May I take a seat?

[Her eyes widen for a moment as his breath brushes past her ear, then she smiles and drops her feet to the ground to facilitate company.]

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Glad to know, m'dear. [ he moves fast, taking a seat, resting his ankle against the opposite knee. ] What brings you here, m'dear? Not often I see such a beautiful woman in this frosty place.

Mischief, adventure, and an effervescently happy looking boat brought me here. I'm sure it won't be too long before we hear Luffy up to his normal hijinks.

[And here she pauses to give him a long, appreciative glance.]

You're looking pretty good these days. Coating business going well?

[ he hums and takes a quick swig of his drink, pausing for a second he thinks and then smiles wryly. ]

Taking another break, allowing my apprentice to learn how to manage without me. But it's... going as well as it could. [ chuckles and tilts his head at her. ] And your search, m'dear? How is that going?

[At this, she grins outright.]

Quite well. I found another piece to the puzzle, and fit another one into its proper place. I suspect they'll all fall into place, before we reach the end of our journey.

Well then, I can tell you it'll only get better from here, can't I? [ laaaughs, oooh, he's smiling like a kid that just got into the cookie jar. ] And the others? How are they?

I'm looking forward to it. The New World thus far has not been a disappointment. [And you're now in it, sort of. You won't be disappointing her, will you?]

The others are a bit... mixed up at the moment.

It'll only get better, even though it has been a long while since I've been there. [ HUMS. oh no, Ray never disappoints the ladies. Especially beautiful ones. ;) ]

Mixed up... Ha, I'm sure they'll find a way to right themselves.

Indeed. They're sure to pull through.

[She takes a short drink from her tankard, sets it next to the other on the table.]

So, do you have accomplices tonight, or am I lucky enough to be your sole source of entertainment?

'Source of entertainment', pah, don't be so silly, m'dear. You're much more than entertainment you know -- an intelligent woman like yourself is more of a conversational partner, or even better. An intellectual equal. It's been so long since I've had one of those. [ mock siiiiighs and then gives a small laugh. ] However, yes, you are the only person in this room to have my attention all to themselves. Don't let it go to your head though, m'dear, getting a big head is the way to a downfall. [ tease tease. ]

[Well, he DID hang out on an island with Luffy for a year and a half... That IS a long time to go without intelligent conversation.]

Oh, you haven't been back to Shakky's bar then? [That chick is twice as smart as you. And have a wink. Robin teases back.]

Oh no, I have. She simply kicked me out right after. Said I was to loud and whiny for her tastes. [ siiiighs, idk if he's joking or not. ] A beautiful woman with a sharp tongue, the way to my heart. [ ray, stop flirting with the woman that's half your age. ]

[That elicits a genuine laugh from Robin. Clearly, you still haven't paid your bill from over two years ago.]

Some things never change, hm? [Picks up her mug] A toast, to endurance.

[ perhaps, but he did offer to pay her with his body... ]

Only good things are meant to last, aye?

[ ...and then he's kinda. shrinking into himself mentally. wow. way to depress yourself ray. He's keeping that smile on his face and toasts. ]

Here here.

[A moment of quiet remembrance is almost a must when you run into Robin. Don't worry, I'm sure she'll think of something to cheer him up.]

Now, then. How about we have a race, you and I? [She switches to the fresh mug, to be fair.]

First to the bottom gets to choose between a drinking game or continued conversation. Agreed?

Oh my, are you sure you can handle this? [ oooh, challenging him to see who can get drunker faster is always fun. Bwahahah. ] But all right. On the count of three, aye?

I think you'll find I can handle you suitably enough. [Her smile is oh so inviting.]

One... [It's all about the anticipation, after all.]

Now here's a face I remember.

[Marco is drinking a blue moon. Shoosh, they're delicious.] Been awhile hasn't it?

[Is this the infamous "blue one" Vivi was recently warned against in Luceti?]

Indeed. [A warm smile] I hope time has been kind to you.

[Nope! That's Romulan Ale from Star Trek. Marco likes it because well, it's blue, and he regenerates. But it's not something to drink casually.]

Aye, likewise, though I'd say from the look of things, it certainly has.

[Ah! Should have known that one.]

[Robin chuckles softly, and leans toward Marco.]

Question is, are you the type to sit back and enjoy the view? Or do you require something a little more thrilling to get your heart racing?

[Oh and speaking of heart racing, there goes Marco's just a little. Doki doki.]

[There's a small sparkle to his eyes, clearly amused, and he leans in a little in return.] Oh, I'm prone to a little bit of thrill-seeking now and again. Though that depends on what you had in mind.

[You asked an archaeologist what gives her a thrill?]

[Robin shifts so she's kneeling on the couch next to him and leans over to whisper in his ear.]

I've heard there's a graveyard nearby. Rumor has it, the place is haunted. I think it warrants... [and she runs the tip of her finger down his jaw] investigation.

[Fortunately(?) this is a New Worlder talking here, so rather than get deflated on how that was so not along the same lines of thoughts Marco had, he just winds up leaning into the finger in spite of himself and nodding along.]

So ghosts and things you think? [Only Marco would still take that as a sign of flirting.]
