Genn had heard the footfalls, how could he not given that they echoed so within the now empty keep? He heard the sound of fabric move with their owners movement, could hear each and every quiet breath they took. Heard them come to a halt and silently wished they would say their piece or leave him in peace, what precious little of it he could scrape together in this testament to his failure.

His mind hadn't really applied blame to anyone save him until that apology registered. Until it reminded him who had sided with his King and overrode his objections. He rose surprisingly smoothly to his feet given the length of time he'd had to have spent kneeling here, turning to look silently at the man now before him for a minute that dragged out painfully as his mind pointed out that if Anduin hadn't had someone pointing out that inviting the Banshee as a gesture of 'good will was such a great idea and would promote actual peace... that he might have actually managed to convince his King the foolishness of such an action.

This slaughter could have been prevented.

The change happened without him really even thinking about it, just one moment he had been standing there eyes giving Khadgar that thousand-yard stare of one damned to failure, no matter how hard he strove to keep from it. The next, a large white furred form barreled into the other man, knocking him to the ground, one clawed hand resting against the leather and cloth covered chest, the muzzle just before the mages face.

"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to. Take a good look around you, Archmage. This is why you don't trust those abominations. You give them an inch and they will take a mile. They loathe the living. How many more have to die before that sinks in for you?"
